Soundbone Youth Choir
Announcing our new venture – The Soundbone Youth Choir!
This new choir welcomes youth ages 10-16 to explore the folksongs of Newfoundland and Labrador and beyond.
Rehearsals will take place at St. David’s Church, 98 Elizabeth Avenue, on Thursday evenings from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, beginning January 22nd. The session will continue for 10 weeks, ending in a presentation/short recital at the final gathering on Thursday, March 26th.
Jean Hewson will direct the choir - Jean also directs the Soundbone Folksong Choir (for adults) and is a well-known traditional musician and music educator.
Details:
This is a non-auditioned choir. All musical levels and abilities are welcome. Rehearsals will be fun and informal and will focus primarily on the folksong repertoire (both traditional and contemporary) of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Parents are welcome at all rehearsals and are encouraged to attend with their children.
Parking is at a premium and there are other events taking place at St. David’s at the same time. Those attending choir may park in at Towers Medical clinic next door as parking is available there after-hours. If you are dropping off your child, you can do so at the horseshoe-shaped driveway at the front of the church (Sanctuary entrance).
If choir members are sick, we ask that they stay home to avoid infecting other. If in recovery but still somewhat symptomatic, we ask people to mask at rehearsal until their symptoms are fully resolved.
Music and song sheets must be downloaded and printed off from the materials webpage to which participants will receive access after they register.
