The Soundbone Folksong Choir is a choral group for adults who share a love of the traditional and contemporary folk songs of Newfoundland and Labrador. Directed by well-known traditional singer/musician, Jean Hewson, the choir will operate for ten weeks during the winter, and another ten weeks during the fall. Each ten week semester will include workshop-style sessions that will cover multiple topics including; the stylistic elements of traditional singing, storytelling, repertoire and harmony. Each semester will culminate in an informal performance to be determined at a later date. Adult singers of all abilities and musical backgrounds are welcome.

The Winter semester will also feature, at no extra charge, a workshop with visiting choral director, Paul Wilson. Paul is a performer, educator, choir leader, songwriter, arranger and folk song collector living in Okehampton, England. He has had an illustrious career as a folk music educator over the last 30 years and holds an Honorary MA in Music Education from Plymouth University.
Paul, along with his musical partner Marilyn Tucker, performs in a duo that has toured internationally. In 1983 they founded Wren Music, a highly respected organization with an active program of folk development activities in schools and communities throughout Devon and the UK, involving over 30,000 participants each year.
