Lomond Sound Community Concert and Workshop
Members of the folk arts collective Lomond Sound (Daniel Payne, Dave Panting, Jean Hewson, Christina Smith, and Gerry Strong) gave a community concert at Woodland Elementary in Dildo, Trinity Bay, April 11, 2014.
The following day, the group gave workshops in fiddle, accordion, guitar, tin whistle, mandolin/4-string banjo, bass guitar and bodhran. The workshops were attended by all ages, 7 years and up. There were 51 participants and the response was very favourable.
Leila Brown, the music teacher at Woodland Elementary, helped organize the event. She was assisted by fellow teachers and friends.
Heather Patey, who drove out from St John’s to assist with the workshops, took these photos at the event.
Thanks to all who helped out. We hope to return to Trinity Bay in the near future to do more performances and workshops.
